Through One Man Sin Entered the World

The face of a man buried in the ground.

The title of this article is, “Through one man Sin entered the world.” Adam is the man who disobeyed God’s law, which allowed sin to enter the world by eating the fruit from the Tree of Knowledge.

Sin is disobeying God’s laws. If Adam had obeyed God’s command and not eaten the fruit from the Tree of Knowledge, sin would not have entered the world at that time. Someone had to disobey one or more of God’s laws before sin could enter the world.

It is like driving your car fast as long as you don’t drive faster than the law allows. Although there is a law determining how fast you can drive, the law only becomes effective if you drive faster than the law allows, and you will have to pay the penalty if caught.

Death has always been on the earth, but it was not active; death became active when Adam disobeyed God’s law, which allowed sin to enter the world. The penalty for sin is a spiritual death, which gave death a mighty grip on humans.

In the beginning, Adam and Eve were supposed to live forever on earth, but through their disobedience to God’s law, sin came into the world. Thus, death became active. Even after they disobeyed God’s command, humans still lived to be over five hundred years old physically.

Adam and Eve’s children were born with the sinful nature of man. Thus, their sinning never stopped, and God was displeased with the actions of humans.

Not to mention in the book of Genesis 6:4 NIV. The Nephilim were on the earth in those days—and afterward—when the sons of God went to the daughters of humans and had children by them. They were the heroes of older men of renown.

The union between the sons of God and the earthly human women produced giant children called Nephilim. This upset God even more, and he shortened the number of years that a human would live. As to whether the sons of God were fallen angels, the bible does not state.

Sometime after that, God decided to destroy every living thing on earth except Noah and his family. He also spared a couple of species of animal, bird, fish, and plant. Noah and his sons built the Ark, and they went inside with their wives and the other living things. Then it began to rain.

At that time, there was a great flood, and everything living on earth was supposedly destroyed except those in the Ark. Although no Nephilim were in the Ark, they were not all destroyed.

In the book of Numbers 13:33 NIV  We saw the Nephilim there (the descendants of Anak come from the Nephilim). We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them.

The penalty for sin is death; through one man, sin entered the world, and that man was Adam. To save humanity, God had to find another man to take sin out of this world; that man was Jesus (God’s spirit in a human).

There were no humans on earth who could die and come back to life, which had to happen to break the grip death had on humans.

While Jesus was not thrilled when chosen for that job, he would obey his father’s will unto death. He wanted to change that decision because he prayed about it a few times.

Matthew 26:39  Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.”

Jesus knew how much God loved humans, so he said to God if this is your will, let it be done and he died. Jesus’ death and resurrection eliminated the spiritual death for all humans; all humans who believe Jesus died for their sins will not die a spiritual death and will live for eternity in heaven.
