When you are not thinking about things that will benefit humanity, especially your immediate family, your mind is probably thinking about some worldly, useless junk. This could be excessive worry about material possessions, indulging in gossip, or dwelling on past mistakes. This article is about the dangers of an idle mind.
Welcome to the body of Christ (believers); if you have already been here for a while, remember that you are not alone in your journey. Thinking about worldly useless junk in any situation is not a good idea because you are opening a passage for any unpleasant thing to occupy your mind. We are here to support each other in staying focused on God.
If you are new to the body of Christ or have been away for a while, take a moment to read up; you will need this information. When you give your life to Jesus, the devil gets angry because he wants to keep you in sin so that you will end up in eternal torment with him.
Some of you already know what is required to become a part of the body of Christ. For those of you who do not understand what is needed. You must ask Jesus to come into your life and give in to Jesus completely. This is a serious commitment, and you must be very serious when you ask Jesus to come into your life; if you are not serious, he will not come.
Once Jesus comes into your life, you will feel a calmness come over you. Jesus will leave, but he will give you the holy spirit to guide you if you listen to him. Some of us do not listen to the divine spirit all the time; as a result, we get lost. Some of us find our way back to Jesus, but some do not.
This is for the people who find their way back to Jesus; if you do not already know, read 1 Peter 5:8- “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour”. Just what does that scripture mean? Let me explain, or you can ask your pastor or another child of God.
As I stated earlier, the devil does not want you to give your life to Jesus; if you do, the devil will attack your mind. It’s not that Jesus actively allows the devil to flood your mind, but rather, the devil will try to manipulate your thoughts if he can; he usually can because he is much more powerful than us. But Jesus will not let the devil harm or kill you.
So, how do you be alert and of a sober mind? Keep a close watch on your mind; if you start thinking about something that you know is Ungodly, that probably is the devil trying to manipulate your mind. You can try this too. Get to know and memorize some bible verses and some gospel songs.
If your mind is not occupied with something beneficial for all humans, the devil will attempt to attack your mind. However, you have the power to resist. You should sing some gospel songs or recite some bible verses out loud. The devil cannot attack your mind as long as you have your mind on Godly stuff. Stay focused, and you will be in control.
One day, my mind was idle, which is much too often. The devil tried to convince me he was Jesus and Jesus was him. I almost fell for it until I remembered Jesus does not do stuff like that, but the devil does. So, you have got to know Jesus’ ways, or you can be tricked.
Once the holy spirit is within you, try to listen to his advice and do what he suggests. This can be done through prayer, meditation, and reflection on scripture. I have always had a problem listening to the holy spirit. That is why I am always constantly heading against the wall, and the devil is steadily attacking my mind.
I am getting better at protecting my mind against the devil’s attacks. I read a chapter from the Bible every day and think about Godly things. This will work, and the devil will flee from you, but he will come back, so stay alert. I do not mean to frighten anyone to the point where they decide not to go to Jesus.
This is much easier than it appears; it could just be how I explain it to you. I do not know if the devil will ever stop trying to devour our minds if this is a continuous battle; I do not mind either because I will always try to be ready by keeping my mind set on Jesus.
I do not know if all Christians have to prevent the devil from attempting to minimize their mind; also, I do not know if other religions have to go through this deal where the devil tries to mitigate their minds.
